January updates!

Hey y'all!

Ken and I on a recent date night

Ken and Jaidyn

It feels like such a long time ago since my last blog post! Life, as usual, has gotten a little crazy and caused me to slack on my blogging. But as I have missed my blog and the blogging world, I thought it was time I do a life update.

January has been nice so far. A few little hiccups, like having to get new tires due to two of them being flat while on my way to work (yikes!) and getting food poisoning (yuck!), but other than that it's all good.

Work has been super busy, but normal busy. Which makes me happy, since all of the holidays and holiday events are over. (People seem to get crazier around the holidays!)

Our church is doing a 21 day Daniel fast and we just started on this past Sunday. It's tough, but good. I already see God working in our lives. I had to adjust the fast a little for myself but Ken is following the fast all the way, including the days that he doesn't eat and only drinks fluids. I have found some cool recipes and they have turned out pretty good. I plan on sharing some soon! I will say though, I can't wait to have a hamburger and diet coke when this is over! :)

The rest of January looks peaceful and quiet. Just what is needed after a long holiday season. We do not have any big plans other than seeing some of my family that we were unable to see during December. My cousin and his wife just had their first baby and we can't wait to meet her.

February will be eventful. First Valentines Day (yay!), then my moms birthday, and the last week of the month we will be flying to Colorado to visit Ken's family and play in the snow for a week! I can't wait, it has been several years since I've been in snow.

So what have y'all been up too?

2013 Favorites!

Hey Y'all!

2013 is nearly over, can you believe it?
This year has honestly flown by, faster than I think any year before it.
I think it might be because it was my first "grown up" year and by that I mean that I was no long in college and I worked full time the whole year.

It was a year of ups and downs that started out pretty rough, but overall a great year that is ending on a good note.

2013 started off with two deaths in my family, which caused a lot of grief and self reflection. I think death just does that. This was not my first time to deal with the loss of family members but I think that no matter how many funerals you attend or how many deaths you grieve, each one is unique and comes with new emotions.

Even though that was a rough start to my year, it did get better from there. Here are some of my favorite moments from 2013:

Teaching Ken to fish and spending more time on the water.

Going to Rodeo to see The Zac Brown Band and Alan Jackson

My 23rd birthday was spent at the Moody Gardens Aquarium, one of my most favorite places in the world

I started a new job at an amazing hotel that has beautiful events!

My 13 year old (14 in January!) dog, April, made it through surgery that she needed to remove a lump.

Ken and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary in the Hill Country at a winery.

My favorite baby turned 1!

One of my oldest friends got married and had a beautiful wedding!

Ken and I went on a cruise with my mom and it was a blast!

We made three stops on the cruise and in Roatan Island I was able to hold and play with monkeys.

And in Cozumel we swam with dolphins.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ken and I celebrated with my mom, dad, stepmom, my brother and a family friend. It was great to have everyone together. Plus my turkey came out very nice!

Lastly, Christmas. It was delightful. I spent time with family, stuffed my face, and received amazing gifts that made me feel super spoiled!

2013 was filled with great memories and I can't wait to see what 2014 has in store. I will making a post soon about my hopes, wishes, and wants for the New Year. Until then, what are your favorite 2013 memories?

Top 5: Thankful List

Hey Y'all!

It is time. Thanksgiving is just over a week away, so I thought it was time to be a little mushy and let you know the Top 5 things that I am thankful for.

Family
(My Mom, Me and Ken)
(My Brother, Me and My Dad)
I love my family. My parents are awesome and I'm lucky to have a great relationship with each of them. My brother, Brandon, and I didn't go up in the same household and we are 8 years apart, but as I have gotten older I am very grateful for him and our relationship. Ken is probably my favorite person in the world and my best friend. Above everything else I have in my life, my family is the best and I am so thankful that I have them to be there for me.

 My Job
Towards the end of the college I started to panic about what I was going to do with my career. I majored in English Literature and minored in Religious Studies...yeah, not a lot of choices. So during my junior year I started an internship with a wedding coordinating company and I fell in love with the event industry. I didn't care what part is was, I loved it all. So I finished my internship and stayed with the coordinating company for another 6 months. During that time an awesome opportunity came up to work for an amazing hotel that I love. So I took it. And now I get to work with an incredible hotel and see pretty events every weekend. It's perfect for me.

My puppies
So they aren't actually puppies anymore, but they will always be puppies to me. The one on the left is April (13 years old, 14 in January!) who I get as a birthday present when I was 10. The one on the right is Jaidyn (2 years old, 3 in February) who I get as a birthday present when I was 21. I love them both and they bring me lots of joy. They each have very different personalities and I am uber thankful for them.

Texas
More specifically - where I live. I love the part of Texas that I call home. I love that if I want to go to the beach its only a 30 minute drive or if I want to be in a big city its only a 30 minute drive. Also, thanks to my dad, I can hop on a sail boat and be in the middle of the Gulf. I also love that my area has a small town feel without actually being a tiny town.

Harry Potter
Y'all knew this was coming right? As many of you know, I love Harry Potter. I love that I grew up with Harry Potter. I am thankful that any time I feel sad or upset I can put on a Harry Potter movie or pick up one of the books and I can escape into an amazing world that will brighten my day.

Well thats what I am thankful for, what about you?

Vacation: Cozumel, Mexico

Hey Ya'll!

Our last stop was spent in Cozumel, Mexico where we were able to swim with dolphins. It was awesome. Cozumel ended up being our favorite day for several reasons. First of all, the dolphins were so cool and it was a amazing experience. It was also the only day on land that didn't rain and the weather was great! We also snorkeled and shopped. It was a wonderful day with lots of pictures, so sorry in advance for the picture overload. Enjoy. :)

This is my last post about my vacation, thanks for sticking around to read them. :)
